Help topics

Getting Started

Choose a category, create a template, then tap Start Work. On a new installation, Explore with Sample Data on the welcome screen loads example work that stays on that device and can be removed in Settings.

Timer & Work Sessions

One session is open at a time. Pause and Resume as you go; Finish saves it to Work Logs. Cancel Session discards it entirely. Started the wrong template? Use Change Template; the timer keeps going.

Calendar

Nothing is added to Calendar until you finish a session. The event then runs from the real start to the real finish, and its notes record active and paused time. The app only ever changes events it created.

Templates

A template sets a session's name, icon, color, category, calendar, tags, and Urgent and Important defaults. Editing or deleting a template never changes work you've already recorded.

Work Logs

Finished sessions, grouped by day. Use Edit Entry to fix times, category, priority, tags, or notes; the Calendar event follows. Deleting a work log asks whether to remove its event too.

Analytics

Totals use active work, which leaves pauses out. One range control drives every figure. Sessions that cross midnight count on the day they started.

iCloud & Live Sync

Mac, iPhone, and iPad sync through your private iCloud database when they're signed in to the same Apple Account. Sync is automatic; Live Sync shows its status on each device.

Connected Devices

Live Sync › Devices lists every device that has opened the app with your Apple Account, once each. Rename a device, or remove one you no longer use.

Apple Watch

Start, pause, resume, finish, and cancel from your wrist. The Watch works with the app on your paired iPhone, which keeps your templates and work logs and adds Calendar events.

Export

Export work logs to an Excel workbook (.xlsx). On Mac, choose the scope and columns; on iPhone and iPad, open More in Work Logs and choose Export to Excel. Exporting never changes your work logs.

Troubleshooting

iCloud isn't syncing

Open Live Sync (in the sidebar on Mac and iPad, in Settings on iPhone) and check the status:

  • iCloud Unavailable: sign in to iCloud on this device, with the same Apple Account as your other devices.
  • Needs Attention: follow the message; for example, free up iCloud storage if it's full.
  • Offline or Waiting: changes are saved on the device and sync on their own once it's back online.

Sample data is never synced. On a new installation, sync starts once you finish the welcome screen. Check Now asks iCloud for your account status again.

Sync seems slow

A change usually reaches your other devices within seconds to a minute, depending on the network and on iCloud. Changes made offline are sent when the device reconnects. There's nothing to press; leave the app open on the device you're waiting on.

Apple Watch isn't connecting

On iPhone, the Apple Watch row in Live Sync shows what's wrong: Not Paired, App Not Installed, Not Reachable, or Connected.

You can keep working while the Watch is away from your iPhone. It shows Waiting for iPhone and delivers your taps, with the times you made them, once the iPhone is back in range.

The app doesn't appear on Apple Watch

The Watch app needs watchOS 27 or later and a paired iPhone with Calendar Time Logger installed. If the iPhone shows App Not Installed, install it from the Watch app on your iPhone. Then open Calendar Time Logger on the iPhone once, so your templates reach the Watch.

Calendar events aren't being added
  • Check that Add finished sessions to Calendar is on in the app's Calendar settings.
  • Calendar Time Logger needs Full Access. "Add Events Only" can't list calendars or update the app's events. Change it in your device's Privacy & Security settings.
  • A work log marked Sync Failed is still saved. Fix the cause shown, then choose Retry, or Retry All in Calendar.
  • If an event was deleted in Calendar, the work log shows Event Missing; Add to Calendar creates it again.
A device appears offline or inactive

A device reports only while Calendar Time Logger is open on it. Recently Active means it was active within the last day; Inactive means it hasn't reported for more than a day, usually because the app is closed or the device is offline. Open the app on that device to update it. Devices not seen for 60 days are removed from the list automatically.

A work session is missing
  • Cancelled sessions are never shown. Only finished sessions appear in Work Logs.
  • Clear the search field and any filters in Work Logs.
  • If you started different work on two devices while both were offline, the later session stays running and the earlier one ends where the later began, marked Sync Failed so you can check its times.
  • Give sync a moment if the session was finished on another device.
Export problems
  • No permission to save: choose a different folder, such as Documents.
  • Not enough disk space: free up space and try again.
  • The workbook is empty: the chosen scope has no finished sessions; choose a wider one.
  • Durations look like odd numbers: they're real Excel time values; format the column as elapsed time.
